Anet cant afford not to sell it through high street stores or other methods. Come GW 2 people who couldnt get it because of many reason I wont list again, as I done so in other forums, will remember how they got stuffed and pick a rival game of which there wil be plenty more in 2009.
Now how many do you think buy in high street shops as opposed to online?

Well one of the things about the CE Auras is that those were only sold via retail chains... as a complete package...
The BMP was just a "freebie" IF you purchased over $40 from the store...
Regardless... they should at least offer addtional ways to get this BMP... sell it, promo sell it or what not...
Why spend all that effort and not maximum sales when there are still demands for it and the irons are hot?
Heck... if Anet started selling $25 Panda bear minis that were customized on purchase.... they would sell ALOT of them...
I think they are seriously missing a vast potential selling point of their store... they need to offer more...
Much more...
Now since GW1 is near end of life... why not sell as much as you can for it?
Sell the CE Aura abilities for $19
Sell super rare minis for $29
Sell the BMP for $9.99
etc etc etc
Why? It would not take too much cost and effort to do this... the content is created... the 98% of the labor is done...
Utilize the ANet GW store to its maximum capacity...
Supply the demand for the GW players who do want to buy more...
If you want my money ANet.. I am willing to spend it on GW...
Offer up the relics that were missed... I am sure you will get a nice
justification of sales for doing it....

Dead wrong.
Anet can't afford to sell it outright.
Understand what the BMP is. It was a tool to entice the purchase of GW:EN from the online store. It was a profit maximizer.
If they sell it for cash now, people won't be using whatever new promotion comes down the pipe for the next online store push. Those people will know from history that Anet will release it for cash later. They are now free to find a better deal other than the online store (and have a box for the collection to boot).
This hurts that maximized profit from e-sales.

If the bmp is sold for cash, then they have no postion to not sell the rest. The only "fair" solution is to recycle the BMP as a "bonus" again. Spend "XXX" amount online to unlock.
I don't think they would risk the legitimate uproar that would occur, if they prostituted out everything special or unique that exists in GW.

I can see your point and actually a pretty good question to ask.. If you can purchase this "promotion" then they really should open up other's for purchase as well.
IMHO..
The release to purchase of the BMP will open up a huge can of worms for sure. I hope ANet will think about this one.

The "why not" is fairy simple here -- they've said that they wouldn't. Your customer base has to believe in you, has to be able to count on the statements that the company makes. If they cannot there is no hope of repeat special markets. If they make the collector's edition available now it destroys the trust of the consumers that paid the extra money and bought the product initially. If they offer the Bonus Misson Pack for sale now it destroys the trust of the customer that read, "This is an exclusive promotional offer." and believed it to be true. Why would I want to do business with a company that can't be taken at their word?
Exclusive is a real word with a real meaning.

It is a double edged sword here... Anet must keep the trust...
But they could sell more in the store or offer more specials to utilize maximum profit of E-Sales...
Ok ... so rule out the rarities... no minis and no CE Auras... I give you that...
BUT... just run the promo again! Simple as that!
Starting December 31st, 2007 --
Get the BMP or 1 free char slot if you spend $40 in our online store....
Everyone will be happy ... everyone that missed the first BMP run will be able to get it again...
Fini.

It doesn't matter what Anet does, people will still be pissed for their own personal reasons. They'll be pissed because they can't buy it or they'll be pissed because they followed the rules to get it and the Anet let everyone get it regardless.
I think running the promotion again might be a good idea but it wouldn't help the people who didn't get the BMP because they couldn't use the in-game store.
Personally, I don't care either way. I have my BMP and I don't have to pay for it. If someone else would like to pay for it to get it them more power to them.

Well that is the point, isn't it?
I don't know about you, but I certainly wasn't willing to waste money on character slots that I didn't need, for "new items" they wouldn't tell us anything about. I was expecting to just get three new items, and it wouldn't have surprised me if they were simple reskins.
It's been said many times before, but not everyone has money to just throw around on everything that announced, especially considering how little information they gave us about what we'd get from it. And what about the people who were completely unable to buy from the online store.
Seems to me, like the majority of you guys against it, just don't want others to be able to play with your new toys.

The mission pack is not an aura or a green minipet + some posters and gadgets.
This is a mission pack. It's a piece of the storyline.
There are 4 NPCs in the cities offering quests and quest rewards.
And all this in-game content is permanently unaccessible to a large part of the playerbase.
For the very 1st time, A.net has created a separation in the playerbase, those who can access some content and those who will never see it.
If you don't understand this = fail.

Theres an NPC in Kamadan with a quest you could only access if you bought a PC Gamer magazine...
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/The_Toy%27s_Story
The BMP takes that concept and expands it. A concept thats been there since NF.
The concept being, buy something (a magazine...or with BMP $30 worth, maybe a Pre-order pack), get exclusive access to something (New quests/missions/items).

Well it seems to the 'majority of us guys against' it being given/sold seperately all agree that we took part in a special promotion and are now enjoying the investment. We made the sacrifices of extra slots/buying gwen instore etc and this is the reward.
I wonder how many whiners on here would be so vocal if the bmp had not given these new skins.
Jealousy, plain and simple
